Attack on the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the government for the wiretapping scandal, launched the president of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, Alexis Tsipras, during his speech at a pre-election rally in Kavala’s Eleftheria Square.

At the same time, he addressed his president PASOK-KINAL Nikos Androulakis and told him that those responsible for the wiretapping will never be held accountable with a New Democracy government and therefore called on him to leave the “unhistorical confrontations”, because, as he noted, “only with a progressive government will those responsible be held accountable parastates”.

Mr. Tsipras he spoke of “a country where democracy is suffering” and stressed: “It is suffering from the manipulation of information. The manipulation of justice. And illegal surveillance. Mr. Mitsotakis tried to build a regime. An authoritarian democracy. He was watching from the office of half the political system. Rivals and enemies. Even the leadership of the Armed Forces. And with the help of propaganda he made lying and distortion normal. Nine months he lied about the great wiretapping scandal. “I didn’t know, it was all done in unbeknownst to me,” he would say. And he was hiding behind national secrecy. But he didn’t have to. It only took one debate and with the first forced question a storm. He witnessed it himself, he confessed. So the wiretapping scandal. And no national reason to half the political system is watched. He himself acknowledged his lies and his guilt. But he still remains in his position, untouched. Everyone remains untouched. In her place is the prosecutor of the EYP, the honorable Mrs. Vlachou, who signed for to monitor all of them. And if there was no national reason, she illegally signed, but remains in her position. In his house and not in the seat of justice, the head of the EYP. And all the others who committed felonies. In their place, apathetic and indifferent, without having taken a single step to clear up this great scandal, are the prosecutors who are supposedly investigating. The prosecutor of the Supreme Court, the honorable one, who is after the confession of Mr. Mitsotakis that there was no national reason to call Ms. Vlachos to his office to explain why I signed for these illegal surveillances to take place.

There is no country of hers Europe that something similar had happened and the high priest of the parastatus, the orchestrator of the parastatus, the prime minister could have stayed in his position even for an hour. Illegal surveillance is prohibited and prosecuted everywhere in Europe. The same in America. And there is a rule in all Western democracies. If you respect the Constitution and the laws you stay, if you violate the Constitution and the laws you leave. And when they catch you and if they catch you with the goat on your back, if you don’t have dignity you stay, if you have dignity you leave. You leave on your own. In any other European democracy, this confession of the prime minister yesterday in public that there was no national reason for the surveillance would have led to resignation.

Mr. Mitsotakis, however, not only did not resign, but claims through the vote of the Greek people to wash away his mistakes.

We say, resign him with your vote, let him resign. the Greek people. To bring democracy back to power.

I also want to address the conservative citizens and anyone with ideological and political differences who vote for New Democracy but are ashamed of this decline of their party. Because it is a historical party that is currently ruled by a holy family. And I want to turn to them and ask them: Will you wash away with your vote Mr. Mitsotakis’ blunders against democracy itself? Will you become complicit in this crime?”

Regarding the president of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, he pointed out the following: “I want to address Mr. Androulakis, who for the first time heard him so clearly asking for the need for the officials of the parastatal to be held accountable to justice, he even spoke about prison. And I ask him: does he really believe that this can be done with a New Democracy government of Mr. Mitsotakis? Obviously it won’t happen with a Mitsotakis government. Therefore, if he really believes, and I do, that the culprits must be held accountable, let’s leave the ahistorical confrontations. Only with a progressive government will the perpetrators of the parastate be held accountable, democratic legitimacy will be restored and Greece will once again become a normal European country.”
