Her intervention of Athens caused by the provocative map of the Turkish agency Anadolu showing Greek islands such as Rhodes, Chios and Ikaria in… Turkish territory which was posted by the French newspaper Le Monde on the internet.

As diplomatic sources commented on the publication of the misleading, Turkish-invented map in the English-language edition of the French newspaper, following relevant instructions from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, the Ambassador of Greece to France, Dimitrios Zevelakis, sent a letter to the newspaper in which he pointed out the erroneous practice of republishing a map depicting the results of the elections in Turkish territory including Greek islands. In addition, he asked the immediate deletion of the map and the avoidance of reproduction of the English and French electronic version of the newspaper, in order to restore the correctness and accuracy of the information published, as well as to avoid causing confusion to the reading public.

The newspaper Le Monde has already deleted the specific map from its website.

In the provocative map, reproduced by the Turkish news agency Anadolu, Le Monde presented the results of the first round of the Turkish elections. The map is supposed to accurately show the territories won by the two “glamorists” Tayyip Erdogan and Kemal Kilicdaroglu, except that half of the Aegean islands, such as Rhodes, Symi, Kos, Leros, Chios and Ikaria have been included in the… Turkish areas who voted for Kilicdaroglu!
