The president of PASOK – Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis spoke this morning, Thursday, on the Alpha television station about the political current affairs, his son and his love for travel.

Mr. Androulakis noted that the inconsistency of words and deeds of Mr. Mitsotakis and Tsipras.

“What does reliability mean? It means that what you say before the elections, you try to implement to a large extent after the elections. We have two options, SYRIZA and New Democracy. Mr. Tsipras came to power saying “I will tear up the memorandums” and brought new memorandums and a super fund. He promised “no house in the hands of a banker” and “don’t pay because I’ll bring a disaster” and by law he handed over billions of bad loans to the funds. And today he is shedding crocodile tears for people’s homes that are a few days, a few months away from eviction. Mr. Mitsotakis spoke of sustainable development with good jobs, healthy finances and respect for institutions. And what did we see? An interception parastate. The country has been exhibited internationally with the games of EYP and his nephew who covered him up. Because it’s not only the scandal, but also the fact that he didn’t let this scandal be solved later,” he noted.

Answering to Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ claim of “obsession with his person”, the president of PASOK – Movement for Change commented: “If I were watching him, I would understand him saying that I am obsessed. But for the New Democracy system to be watching me and argue that I’m obsessed, it’s unimaginable things.”

Asked about his son and how they spend their time together, Mr. Androulakis commented: “We try to spend time together, because the priority is the child. Unfortunately, rhythms and needs reduce this time, but while we are there, we try to make it a quality and full time”.

“Children are a great school for parents. They make us see the world in a purer way – their view of things is pure, without the problems, anxieties, second thoughts that adults do – I think that anyone who has children and tries to give them time, philosophizes through the children things,” he added.

“We were playing Ping pong with my son and we were fighting for him to learn. And we went to basketball together. Now unfortunately for the last year I can neither play basketball nor table tennis”, noting that the recovery from the recent surgery on his leg is long. “It was my dream to play basketball together. But with what’s happened to me, we’re not going to make it,” joking that “we’ll have drinks together when he comes of age.”

To a question about how his life is, after his election as President of PASOK, he replied: “My life continues as before. I didn’t even change house, where I was, I still live. Where I used to go out with my friends, I go out. The only thing that has changed, because of time and because of the leg, is that I am deprived of some things. That is, I don’t go out with my friends as often and I don’t do the sports activities I used to do.”

“I really enjoyed going on hikes,” he noted.

“I travel a lot, with the first chance. I mean, my friends pick me up and ask me, ‘Where are you? Will you come for a drink?’ and I answer them: “From where I am, a bit difficult.” It’s a common answer. And I’m leaving alone. I don’t tell anyone. Most of the time I go alone. I like to aim for a place. I find a book that has something to do with this place. I read it on the plane and then I visit what was mentioned in the book”, said the President of PASOK, referring to his love for travel.

He made special reference to the multiple roles of the modern woman and mother. He reiterated his commitment that no child should be left out of nurseries and centers of creative employment, but also the legislative initiative of PASOK-Movement of Change for the maternity allowance for self-employed mothers.

“We have to build a society that will give perspective on the familya” he said, noting that “the tax rates in Greece for a family without children and a family with two children have a difference of only 3% when, for example, in Portugal the tax relief is 10%”.
