The Turks although… are running for their own second elections which will be held on May 28, they dealt extensively with the elections in Greece.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbulthe interest from Turkish journalists was particularly intense and the great victory of the New Democracy caused a great impression of its scope.

CUMHURIYET reports: The winner of the elections in Greece is Mitsotakis, while NTV writes: “Elections in Greece. Mitsotakis’s party is first. 20 points difference from his opponent Alexis Tsipras”. Finally, SABAH has a title: The winner of the elections in Greece is the party of Mitsotakis.

New challenges from Cavusoglu

Meanwhile, Mevlut Cavusoglu on the day of the Greek elections raised the issue of questioning the sovereignty of the islands. In an interview with Haber Turk he said:

“There is the issue of maritime areas of responsibility. It is considered easy to resolve the issue of islands and islets whose sovereignty has not been determined. We say they belong to us, the Greeks say they belong to them. They claim 10 miles (airspace) over 6 miles. There is the status of demilitarized islands. Claiming 10 miles of airspace over 6 miles of territorial waters is both ridiculous and illegal under international law. Let’s say this is the simplest. The question is whether the other side will take any step in these matters. Mitsotakis stated that ‘we are not discussing any other issue except the maritime areas of responsibility’. And we say that if we only talk about one issue, as long as there are other issues, we will continue to have tensions”.
