With the speech of the president of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsipras, the scheduled meeting of the Central Committee begins, the first after the heavy defeat suffered by Koumundourou’s party in the elections of May 21.

The goal is initially to investigate the causes that led to the painful election result of May 21, and then its executives act immediately in order to organize their steps from now on by drawing a new strategy that will be able to give them back the lost credibility.

And all this while time is running backwards until the next election battle on June 25 and with the first internal party grumblings having already made their appearance.

The reaction of party officials was caused by the position of Dimitris Papadimoulis, who proposes, in the context of the renewal, to frame Alexis Tsipras with new faces, such as Efi Ahtsioglou, Alexis Haritsis, Nasos Iliopoulos. Rena Dourou spoke of “unfortunate statements, especially when they are not made in collective bodies”.

For her part, Olga Gerovasili said that Alexis Tsipras “is capital for the Left and for SYRIZA and for the country. He took responsibility and continues the battle as a leader.”

Andreas Xanthos emphasized that the subject of leadership cannot be a taboo subject, although he pointed out that this “discussion is out of place and time. Obviously we will go to the elections with the current leadership.”

After today’s meeting, it is expected that the Prefectural Committees of the party will be convened throughout Greece, with the aim that the organizations across the territory will immediately enter combat positions.
