He referred, among other things, to the “invasion of the so-called “green energy” in all the mountains of our country” while also pointing out the appearance of energy and tourism investments in burnt forests.
“Here in these neighborhoods of Western Athens, we took a step with the KKE’s significant increase in votes and percentages and the conquest of third place again. Now we go to the next with an even stronger KKE, the only genuine, popular militant opposition. Yes, now more people can get to the ballot box with the KKE ballot, because they understand what the KKE was saying from the very beginning, that ND, SYRIZA and PASOK have a common anti-people program, that they agree on the basic, key, strategic issues. And they can’t hide this, even if they fight again before the election about whether or not their programs are costed” said the head of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas, at the beginning of his speech tonight at the event of the Attica Party Organization of the KKE in Park “Ant. Tritsis” with the theme: “How green is green growth? A fight for the real protection of the environment”.
“Certainly when workers hear about fiscal stability, stability of banks, formation of an “attractive investment environment”, they understand that their needs have already been priced out and thrown out of their programs because there are only the profits of the few, of the groups.
This is why all of them literally beat the people with tax evasion, while at the same time cutting taxes on big business and keeping the legal tax breaks on capital. Now, of course, they are arguing about who is or is not with the taxes” he added and underlined:
“They are not fooling anyone! The only real relief for the people are the KKE’s proposals to abolish VAT on consumer goods, energy taxes and ENFIA at the same time as increasing taxation on business groups, and that is why the KKE needs to be even stronger.”
THE member of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubassaid that “the reality solemnly refutes the claims of the parties of the system” that if one took them at face value “one would come to the conclusion that Greece is a country with a natural environment that is protected, with residents who enjoy the beauties of Greek nature” .
He cited as an example the situation that prevails throughout Attica “the most burdened residential area of the country” and in the center of Athens.
“Perhaps the greatest proof in the region of Attica, for the timeless hypocrisy of all urban forces when we talk about the environment, is the example of Hellinikon that is sacrificed on the altar of the enormous profitability of a very expensive Real Estate” he said characteristically.
He also referred to the “invasion of the so-called “green energy” in all the mountains of our country” while also pointing out the appearance of energy and tourism investments in burnt forests.
He also said that “the supporters of the escalation of NATO’s military conflict with Russia in Ukraine, with the tragic consequences for human lives and the long-term destruction of the natural environment, are impersonating the sensitive environmentalists”, while noting that “the polluting American LNG, baptized in a “green” night. So are nuclear power plants with their hazardous waste, as well as the mining, separation and polluting processing of rare earths.”
D. Koutsoubas noted that capitalism “uses the environment as a raw material, as an economic ground. That’s why he can’t help but destroy it.”
He also said that “the parties of the system that governed and today claim the vote of the workers are not interested in our own natural environment, but their goal is to ensure the profitability of big capital”.
“The problem that the so-called green transition policy is trying to solve is the problem of the overaccumulation of capital by big business that can no longer be profitably invested in the production process. The only way capitalism deals with this problem is the destruction of a significant part of capital, in order to keep the capitalist profit machine running” said D. Koutsoubas.
“If we close the lignite plants, if we throw away the cars that use gasoline, if we replace all the houses with new, energy houses, if we impose regulations on all industrial facilities so that they protect the environment, they estimate that golden fields of profitable placement will be created of funds. This is the essence of the green transition policy” he added.
He said that “the green transition has a huge cost for the working class”, explaining, among other things, that “climate change phenomena, (about which scientists still do not have an agreement and there is debate), are used as the political tool to convince employees to put their hand deep in their pocket:
–to pay for green energy,
–to limit even their movements,
–to accept to shoulder new costs for the energy upgrade of the buildings,
–reduce heating in winter and air conditioning in summer,
So that the huge profits of the monopolistic groups that invest in green energy, in modern buildings, in electric cars can arise.”
“This is also the real character of the policy of the EU and the urban governments for the green transition” he emphasized.
“Even more provocative and misleading is the attempt to shrink and limit the huge issue of protecting public health and the environment to just the issue of CO2 emissions and the disputed theory of the ‘climate crisis’.” However, dealing with the major problems of civil protection, anti-seismic shielding, fire protection, anti-flood protection, has a much more immediate and urgent importance for the protection of the life and health of the population” underlined D. Koutsoubas.
He said that capitalist ownership of land and group competition for land use made a comprehensive civil protection plan impossible.
D. Koutsoubas said that the situation would be completely different “if the workers, the people, were in control of the power and the economy, if the decisions about what will be produced, how much, where and in what way, were not taken on the basis of capitalist profit, based, that is, on the needs of the ruling class, based on the commitments of the EU and NATO”.
“This radically different situation is the social ownership of the concentrated means of production, with scientific central planning and workers’ control, the radically different workers-people’s state, the new society of socialism, which can ensure the well-being of the people” he underlined, adding, among others, that “labour power and social ownership of land can transform the natural environment from a source of exploitation and profiteering into an integral element of development based on social welfare”.
Noting that “in the face of the upcoming election battle, the issue of the environment must and can be an important voting criterion” he said that the KKE “calls on all workers to “throw black” on all parties of the infamous green transition, in EU politics and to all those who ask them to sacrifice their lives to ensure the profitability of big capital.”
“ND-PASOK-SYRIZA are the standard-bearers of this “green attack” on the income and needs of the people. No party that promotes the plans for the “green transition”, the European Union and NATO, no party that submits to the goals of the ruling class, can create a better future for the people,” he said.
“Our lives have proven that hope is on the way to overthrow. The forces of the KKE are constantly involved in struggles in all regions of the country” said D. Koutsoubas, adding “join us to make the KKE even stronger at the polls on June 25. For 100% militant popular opposition to the ND government and the electoral opposition of others who ask us for new sacrifices to treasure the green predators.
A stronger KKE to organize our counterattack and pave the way for overthrow”.
After the speech of the head of the Central Committee of the KKE, interventions followed.
