The commitment to reduce production costs for farmers, through the abolition of the excise tax on agricultural oil, was reiterated by the president of SYRIZA-PS of Alexis Tsipras from Larissa and specifically from Killeler in a meeting he had with the farmers of the prefecture.

Mr. Tsipras, in the context of the interventions that need to be made to support the agricultural world, said that the party’s proposal for electricity is important, stressing that interventions that support households and farmers need to be made. At the same time, he spoke about necessary measures to protect agricultural land, saying that the proposal of SYRIZA-PS concerns the possibility of arrangements, so that “the peasantry can save their fields and the middle class their houses”.

At the same time, he referred to his case ELGA which directly concerns farmers, noting that SYRIZA’s proposal is to change the ELGA regulation.

As he said, the study to change the regulation was prepared by the SYRIZA government, accusing the previous government of N.D that this study was not carried out by the government “but they had it in their drawers”.

As he said, the study foresees the advance payment of compensations and the commitment of equal financing of ELGA by the producers and by the state.

Among other things, Mr. Tsipras reiterated the package of measures for the financing of farmers through the Entrepreneurship, Self-Employed and Farmers Fund with the aim of financially supporting farmers with working capital, microcredits, but also commercial and agricultural credits “to finally stop this exclusion of farmers from the banks”.

He also noted that SYRIZA proposes the creation of an Energy Democracy Fund that will cover the financing of integrated energy saving actions, with the aim of reducing energy costs, but also protecting the environment.

Finally, he referred to the banking system, noting that there is a need to intervene in the banking system, so that the state has an essential role so that the banks can also finance the rural economy. In this context, he emphasized that there needs to be greater involvement of the development bank, so that there is financing for the agricultural world, while speaking about the role of PPCsaid it should be under public control to “support farmers and stop speculation”.

It is noted that the president of SYRIZA-PS, before the meeting with the farmers, laid a wreath at the monument of the farmer of Killeler, referring to the historical struggles of the agricultural movement.
