ND officials made a two-day tour of the region
In the context of the visits made by New Democracy ahead of the June 25 elections, a delegation led by the former Minister of Development and Investments, Vice-President of the ND and candidate for Member of Parliament B1 of the North Sector of Athens Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, the former president of the Hellenic Parliament and candidate Ioannina Member of Parliament Mr. Konstantinos Tasoula and MEP Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou made a two-day tour to Thesprotia and Preveza.
During the first day of the tour, Mr. Georgiadis, Mr. Tasoulas and Ms. Asimakopoulou visited, among others, Igoumenitsa, Filiates, Paramythia, Gardiki and Sivota, while they held a joint speech in Karvounari. At the same time, they had the opportunity to visit street markets, local shops and cafes and to talk with citizens, workers, entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of local authorities and institutions. The ND echelon was accompanied by Epirus Regional Governor Alexandros Kahrimanis, Mayors and members of DEEP and DIMTO.
As part of his visit to Igoumenitsa, Mr. Georgiadis also visited a model shrimp farming unit, which contributes to the development of the primary sector and the economic revitalization of the area. On the second day of their tour, Mr. Georgiadis, Tasoulas and Asimakopoulou visited Kanalaki, Kanali and Gorgomylos, while they held speeches in Preveza and Filippiada. They also met with His Eminence the Metropolitan of Nicopolis and Preveza etc. Chrysostom.
In his statements immediately after the end of the visits, Mr. Georgiadis emphasized: “Our tour to Thesprotia and Preveza was intense and very moving. We met people from almost all professional branches, from all age groups and they all expressed the same wish: that the Government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis continue its work unwaveringly for the next four years. On May 21, the Greek people gave New Democracy a strong lead. On June 25 he will give her a strong mandate to rule. We have two more weeks ahead of us to do the right thing, to give our Greece what it deserves.”
In his statements, Mr. Tasoulas pointed out: “We came here to complete something that the Greek people triumphantly started on the evening of May 21st. Our fellow citizens in Thesprotia and Preveza and throughout Greece did not reward a one-month pre-election campaign but a four-year government term. And they decided to express their confidence in the Government and Kyriakos Mitsotakis. This now remains to be completed on June 25, where the self-reliance of New Democracy will be further strengthened. And this is the message we received during these two days of our tour: the citizens will once again give us their vote not to win, but to govern.”
For her part, ND MEP Ms. Asimakopoulou said: “After yesterday’s visit to Thesprotia, today I had the opportunity to be again in Preveza, another beautiful regional unit of Epirus, and to talk with residents and visitors of this historical place. For two days we met from end to end in Thesprotia and Preveza. Epirus is no longer an isolated and introverted region, but is emerging as a leading tourist destination, while also increasing its dynamics in the primary sector. Its potential and prospects are great. The image of the area has changed radically in the last four years, with projects that upgrade the quality of life of the residents and attract visitors and investments. Beyond that, however, the love and acceptance of the people was immense and filled us with optimism for the upcoming victory of New Democracy in the June 25 elections. The Government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is next to the citizen with projects and not with slogans, putting into practice the development of the region, but also decentralization. The message we conveyed is that “one vote can change Greece”. That’s why we don’t let any vote go to waste. Our goal is a strong Greece, a better Greece. Firmly, boldly, ahead with Kyriakos Mitsotakis”.
