The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas, calls for even more strengthening of the KKE “so that our people have more reasons to smile and be stronger against the anti-people government, which it seems will be of the ND” , in an interview with the “Macedonia” newspaper.

Asked “why vote for the KKE and not some other smaller party?” answered “because such parties have nothing to offer the people”, noting that “how many times have we not seen them “inflate” from the media hype, without anyone having ever met them in real life, entering the Parliament, they play a useful role for the system”.

“What should one remember first: Potami, LAOS, ANEL, Union of Centers, DIMAR and recently MeRA-25. We see the same thing happening now with other parties, such as that of Zoi Konstantopoulou, who has a heavy past of participating in the deception of the people in the semester of the “proud negotiation” of 2015 as Speaker of the Parliament, while we do not think that she is making a special effort to hide the her “flirt” with far-right and fascists, some of whom are also on her ballots,” he added.

Regarding the possibility of a third appeal to the polls in the event that the ND does not achieve independence, he said that “a government could be formed after the May 21 elections by the parties that agree on the basics, but did not do it to blackmail the voters , to steal seats from the other parties with the even more unfair electoral law”.

“This is what Mr. Mitsotakis is doing now again, threatening “elections in August”” he added, noting “we do not believe that there is such a case, after all self-reliance that some willing “supplement” does not arise will be found, as has happened many times in the past” .

Regarding the reports of Al. Tsipras for the “failure of the simple proportional strategy” said that “Mr. Tsipras essentially admits that he brought the more proportional electoral system in order to blackmail other parties into giving him support or tolerance, in order to make the “muff” supposedly “progressive” government he wanted”.

He noted that the KKE is in favor of simple proportionality “because it is the fairest electoral system in the generally unfair framework of bourgeois democracy”, adding “therefore what failed was not simple proportionality – indeed it was not even simple proportionality since the limit was maintained 3% entry – but Mr. Tsipras’ blackmail strategy. But that’s his problem.”

Regarding the claim that “the positions of the KKE are not feasible”, D. Koutsoubas said that “they are not feasible for those who are destined to serve the profits of big capital” and emphasized: “In fact, the only thing missing today for to implement what the KKE proposes, is for the majority of our people to decide and come to the fore, together with the KKE, which is ready to serve its Program from government positions, to put everything into practice together with the people protagonist”.

“Until this happens, we will offer our people the only 100% genuine, militant, popular opposition against any anti-people government and in this case against the ND government,” he stressed.

Regarding the “costing” of the parties’ programs, he said, among other things, that “our Program costs everything to those who offer nothing and today own all the wealth of the country and gives everything to the workers who produce it and live in uncertainty. Of course, no organization of the current system can cost it because, when this Program is implemented, social needs will have ceased to be counted as a “cost” for the coverage of which some “tax equivalents” will have to be found, but will be the very purpose for which the economy will move”.

He referred to the proposals of the KKE for dealing with punctuality and increasing wages which he had submitted to the Parliament, noting that “they were rejected by the government and the other parties, not because they are not feasible, but because they affect the profitability of big capital in which all of them are bound to serve. Only with a stronger KKE and a stronger popular movement can we impose them.”

In his interview, D. Koutsoumbas, who is also a candidate for the First Thessaloniki, spoke about the city’s problems, noting that the KKE “with all its strength has been at the forefront all these years in every claim to deal with these problems ” and emphasizing that it is in the interest of the people of Thessaloniki to maintain the party’s seats and increase its percentages.

Asked about the increase in KKE percentages in connection with his “personal “opening” to young people”, he said that “everything helps and we are trying to improve in everything, but in no case is a better “communication” enough for someone to vote KKE”, noting that the KKE received the largest percentages where significant labor-popular struggles developed.

“I don’t have any communication skills, I’m just myself and I use the expressions I’ve always used and they help me say what I want. Perhaps this has also been appreciated by the youth, because lately we see several middle-aged people trying to represent 16-year-olds with not so good results…” concluded D.
