The ND-SYRIZA confrontation continues over Rodopi – The two SYRIZA candidates in Thrace violated the national red line, said the press representative of the ND
The press representative of the ND accused of playing with the institutions Akis Schertsos the president of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras referring to his visit to the caretaker prime minister, Ioannis Sharma, in order to inform him about the Rhodope issue and the political confrontation that has broken out between ND and SYRIZA.
In more detail, Mr. Skertsos spoke of a mockery of the institutions and fireworks on the part of Mr. Tsipras while accusing him of prioritizing the party interest over the national interest.
He reiterated that the leader of SYRIZA had been informed in a timely and competent manner and chose to ignore the warnings even of his own party officials.
“Does Mr. Tsipras deny that he had received material with messages about the involvement of the Turkish consulate?” he said and then wondered once again why the SYRIZA MP candidates in Rodopi do not take a clear position stating that they represent the Muslim minority.
Answering a question, Mr. Skertsos emphasized that there is evidence that the candidates in question adopt the most extreme views on the Turkish minority, but also irrefutable evidence of the involvement of the Turkish consulate.
Asked if the other political leaders had also been informed about the issue of the involvement of the Turkish consulate in Rodopi, he replied that the information only concerned Mr. Tsipras.
Regarding the attack launched by SYRIZA against Mrs. Bakoyannis, Mr. Skertsos replied that “Ms. Bakoyannis has no democratic credentials to show”.
As far as the political agenda is concerned, Mr. Skertsos reiterated that SYRIZA largely refers in its program to economic policies that the ND government voted for and the main opposition party voted against.
Finally, he explained that in order to continue the successful course of the country “we need a stable government” and asked the citizens not to support factions since PASOK’s refusal to cooperate will lead to third elections
