Shocked by the wreck with the dozens of lives lost in her wake Pylos states its president of New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Mr. Mitsotakis points out that at the moment “the priority is to save as many lives as possible”, he notes, however, that “Immigration remains a problem that requires a coherent European policy”.

His statement in more detail:

“We are all shocked by today’s tragic shipwreck in the international waters of the Mediterranean, southwest of the Peloponnese. I am saddened by the loss of so many innocent lives. And, already, the forces of the New Democracy are at the disposal of the Interim Government.

They are moments of solidarity and humanity. Now the priority is to save as many lives as possible. The new incident, however, dramatically highlights that Immigration remains a problem that requires a coherent European policy. So that the despicable criminal networks that traffic in desperate people will finally get the decisive response they deserve.”
