We are finally waiting for a clear position. No more hypocrisy, no more patriotism, no more dangerous games with sensitive national issues, emphasizes SYRIZA.
SYRIZA PS requests a clear position from the ND regarding the “revelation of Alexis Tsipras” that “in the EYP report sent to him by Mr. Mitsotakis, the ND candidate for parliament, Mr. Katrantzis, is mentioned as ‘enlisted’ in the Turkish Consulate”.
Specifically, SYRIZA states in a statement that ND’s press representative, Akis Skertsos, “for ten days has been roaming the channels characterizing SYRIZA-PS as a ‘national exception’ and targeting the Muslim minority of Thrace with selective leaks to the media. Today, however, he did not find a single word to respond to Alexis Tsipras’s revelation that in the EYP bulletin sent to him by Mr. Mitsotakis, the ND candidate for parliament, Mr. Katrantzis, is mentioned as ‘enlisted’ in the Turkish Consulate. “This”, SYRIZA notes, “follows the revelation that Mr. Katrantzi had spoken about ‘Western Thracian Turks’ a few days before the elections in a Turkish newspaper.”
“We are finally waiting for a clear position. No more hypocrisy, no more patriotism, no more dangerous games with sensitive national issues,” SYRIZA underlines.
At the same time he mentions that at the same time Mr. Skertsos “recognized that the refugee/immigrant issue is a global problem and an international crisis”. “We actually welcome him. Because for more than 4 years the ND has been dealing with the issue with populism and demagoguery for the sake of far-right votes”, he says. However, he comments that Mr. Skertsos “did not fail to draw the conclusion of the tragedy in Pylos, saying that there was no involvement of the Greek authorities, while the Coast Guard itself has admitted that it carried out an operation on the fishing vessel”. But beyond that, SYRIZA asks: “for Mr. Schertsos and the ND, it is not questionable that the justification of those responsible for the non-rescue policy they followed is that they were not given permission by the bastard smuggler captain, who even seems to have left the ship hours before the wreck?’
