With its announcement, PASOK informs that the candidacy of the lawyer Ioannis Glykas on the ballots of the party in A’ Piraeus is considered invalid due to his involvement as a lawyer in the case of the late Sifis Valyrakis.
Related announcement had earlier been published by the wife of the late Sifis Valyrakis, Mina Papatheodorou-Valyrakisin which he stated: “The current President of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, proves that he has limited knowledge about SIFI’s contribution to the country and PASOK, proving it emphatically with the move to include honorary members on his party’s ballot, in 1st Electoral district of Piraeus, for the elections of June 25, the lawyer Ioannis Glykas. […] Ioannis Glykas was a defense lawyer for the alleged murderers of Sifis Valyrakis for a short time, with the sole purpose of their release from prison in record time.”
In its announcement, PASOK states: “On Friday, June 16, 2023, the issue of the legal relationship of lawyer Yiannis Glykas in the case of the late Sifis Valyrakis came to our attention.
We note that the ballots were submitted to the Supreme Court on Monday, June 5, 2023, and the Ballots Committee had no previous knowledge of the said legal involvement, which as Mr. Glykas publicly stated ended a year ago and was brief.
Immediately, the Ballot Committee scheduled a meeting for today, Monday, and decided that the candidacy of Mr. Glykas is considered invalid.
Sifis Valyrakis was a historical member of PASOK with a great political legacy, which we honor infinitely”.
