Against SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, the Fake News Observatory of the New Democracy turns with its announcement, noting that “we proved in the period 2019-2023 that by observing the rule 1 recruitment for each departure, there was an increase in personnel in the critical sectors of health, education, security and defense”.

“We have already proven in the period 2019-2023 that by following the rule of 1 recruitment for every departure, there has been an increase in staff in the critical sectors of health, education, security and defence” it is emphasized. The data is obtained and confirmed from the Human Resources census register of the Ministry of ND adds internal ones.

“Essentially, by redistributing staff to sectors that have more need, we made more and targeted recruitments during the period 2019-2023, effectively strengthening public health, public school and security, making 28,500 permanent recruitments, for example in education for the first time after 12 years ».

As the ND reports, “unlike SYRIZA which talks about additional recruitments indiscriminately and without any targeting, we implement a prudent, fair and effective recruitment policy in the State that does not burden public finances and at the same time covers important gaps in the most critical sectors that affect the daily life of citizens”.

“We are also taking advantage of the digitization of the state, which has seen leaps and bounds over the past four years, so that by automating processes and freeing up human resources from services that were previously provided manually, we can utilize public servants in other more important and necessary services of the state. This is how we managed to add human potential to public sectors that are in need. Thus, we will continue in the next four years with prioritizing health”.

In this context, the following elements are listed:

Health

June 2019: 100,308 health workers
December 2022: 107,676 healthcare workers

Net increase +7,368 (+7.3%)

Education

June 2019: 163,741 teachers
December 2022: 181,038 teachers

Net increase +17,297 (+10.6%)

Security (ELAS, fire brigade, coast guard)

June 2019: 74,497 police officers, firefighters, port guards
December 2022: 78,663 police officers, firefighters, porters

Net increase +4,166 (+5.6%)

Armed forces

June 2019: 80,358 military personnel
December 2022: 85,403 military personnel

Net increase +5,045 (+6.3%)

This significant increase in the most critical areas of concern to citizens has occurred through internal reallocation of priorities and recruitment and has not burdened the total number of civil servants in the narrow public sector, which has even recorded a slight decrease of 0.5% in comparison with 2019. New Democracy serves a much more effective recruitment policy in the State which:

  • It does not inflate the number of civil servants
  • Reinforces the most sensitive areas with additional personnel.
  • It is based on the principle “the right man in the right place”.
  • He demolishes the SYRIZA narrative of discrediting public health and education.
