With the delivery of the official election results, by the Speaker of the Parliament Konstantinos Tasoula to the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and the swearing in of the re-elected Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the first phase of the post-election period begins tomorrow, Monday, June 26.

Basic stations of, the announcement of the composition of the new government (later tomorrow, Monday) and the swearing-in of the “300” (next Monday, July 3), and the final stop, the reading of the program statements and the Parliament’s vote of confidence in the new government , a few days later.

At 9 tomorrow morning, the acting Minister of the Interior, Kalliopi Spanou, will go to the House of Parliament where she will deliver the table with the official election results of June 25, to the Speaker of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoula. He, in turn, will go to Herodos Attikou in order to inform the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

Subsequently, the President of the Republic will contact the president of the ND, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as leader of the party that has the absolute majority of seats in the new Parliament, in order to appoint a prime minister and to entrust him with the mandate to form a government, in accordance with article 37 par. 2 of the Constitution. The re-elected prime minister will be sworn in at the Presidential Palace, and a few hours later, the announcement of the composition of the new ND government is expected.

Next Monday, July 3at 11 am, will take place the swearing in of the deputies who were elected in the recent election, and the following day, Tuesday, July 4th the plenary session of the 9th (twentieth) Parliamentary Period of the Presiding Parliamentary Democracy will convene for the election of the President of the Hellenic Parliament, the election of the vice-presidents of the body as well as the secretaries and deans of the parliament.

The first phase of the new four-year period will end with reading the government’s Program Statements and the vote of confidence of the Parliament.

According to the Constitution (article 84) and the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament (article 141) the government must, within fifteen days of the swearing in of the prime minister, appear in the Parliament and request vote of confidence after discussing her programmatic statements. The three-day debate on the programmatic statements of the new government is expected to take place a few days after the swearing-in of MPs and the election of the presidium of the Parliament, and will culminate at midnight on the third day of debate, with the vote on the motion of confidence in the new government.
