During the delivery-receipt ceremony at the Ministry of Culture, acting minister Giorgos Koumentakis handed over to Lina Mendoni, the only minister of the previous government who holds her portfolio.

“I want to deeply thank Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the unique honor he reserved for me. Honor, which translates into a very big responsibility for me. As he himself said, this government is a government of work and reforms, which must be done at a fast pace” said Lina Mendoni.

Awaiting the programmatic statements, Mrs. Mendoni pointed out indicatively: “We have a lot of work to do: the many projects of the Recovery Fund, which must be completed by 2025, we have the emblematic projects, such as the National Archaeological Museum, such as Tatoi , such as the Museum of Marine Antiquities, but also a lot of work in modern culture that has already begun and must continue. The digital transformation of modern culture operators is a very big bet because only in this way will they be able to live and face the challenges”. At this point the Minister of Culture referred to the Deputy Minister of Culture Christos Dimas, noting “here I think that the contribution of the Deputy Minister of Culture Christos Dimas can be very important. But also for the future” and welcoming him, he characterized Mr. Dimas as “a young politician, with very good studies and experience, who carries a heavy legacy of a family of politicians and especially of his father, who was always distinguished for his ethics and his honesty, qualities that Christ also inherited”.

“I am honored to join a team of the Ministry of Culture that objectively operates with great success. Of course, I must say, Madam Minister, you said the word development more times than we used to say it in the Ministry of Development and Investments, where I come from,” said the new Deputy Minister for Modern Culture with a smile, adding that “indeed, the development perspective is endless” and that his goal is in the immediate future to visit all the institutions he supervises so that “we can promote policies in modern culture”.

Present at the ceremony were Giorgos Didaskalou, Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture and Eleni Doundoulaki, Secretary General of Modern Culture.
