I feel particularly honored and proud that the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, entrusted me with the political leadership and command of the Armed Forces.

The fact that I am taking over the Ministry of National Defense after the fruitful and successful tenure of Nikos Panagiotopoulos and Alcibiades Stefanis, as acting Minister, constitutes an extraordinary responsibility.

I stand with special respect towards the history of the Armed Forces and their glorious contribution to the country. I honor, like all Greeks, the memory of those who sacrificed themselves on the altar of their country in the line of duty.

My previous tenure at the Ministry of National Defense and my contact with people who know what duty and contribution to the country mean, working day and night, creates a sense of familiarity and security for me.

I trust the value, the high spirit and the professionalism of the Greek Officer, NCO and our drafters.

We will follow with a compass the values ​​that all Greeks represent and desire and we will perform our duty conscientiously and self-sacrificingly.

With seriousness and responsibility, with intense action and extroversion, with absolute transparency and meritocracy, with faith and dedication to the democratic state, and with the proper functioning of structures and hierarchy, we will strengthen the effectiveness of our Armed Forces in the widest range of their activities.

The country’s defense, security and deterrent capability, in a dynamically evolving and demanding geopolitical environment, are our strategic pursuits. We must confidently and confidently manage the challenges of the modern world, serve national interests, international peace and stability, upgrade the relations of good neighborliness and peaceful coexistence and strengthen our alliances.

We are also concerned with maintaining the unbreakable bond and strong relationship of trust between the Armed Forces and Greek society. The Greek Armed Forces will continue their uninterrupted social contribution and will help in difficult situations and emergency needs of Greek citizens.
