The cause of Mr. Antonaros’ dissatisfaction is “the would-be successors” of Mr. Tsipras
Evangelos Antonaros raised the issue of his future distancing from SYRIZA, speaking to ERT, while on the occasion of the latest developments and the resignation of Alexis Tsipras from the presidency of the party, he underlined that: “the way things are going, very soon I will have no reason to I have a political affiliation with SYRIZA”.
The cause of Mr. Antonaros’ displeasure, as he told ERT, is Mr. Tsipras’ “prospective successors”, characteristically saying, “As if they are happy that Alexis Tsipras has left and as if they were waiting for the moment to take over the succession. These are funny things (…) I am referring to all those mentioned in the reports. (…) I am happy and respect Mr. Sakellaridis, who a short while ago, if I am not mistaken in a statement by his name on the radio, said that he is not participating in this race”.
It had been preceded by a particularly caustic post by Mr. Antonaros in which he requested the withdrawal of interest from potential candidates for the presidency of the party and the return of Mr. Tsipras.
If the would-be successors in Syriza-PS had any brains: The members of all the leading bodies would write a joint letter, resign as a group and ask Al. Tsipras to review his decision. At the same time, they would request his immediate re-election. But we said…if!

Mr. Antonaros once again expressed his support for the outgoing president of SYRIZA saying characteristically: “None of them can succeed, I say clearly, Alexis Tsipras”.
