Specific proposals for the timetable for the election of its new president SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance were raised on the first day of the party’s Central Committee meeting. The final decision seems to also decide the number of candidates for the leadership.

In particular, there is the basic proposal of the Political Secretariat, which was conveyed by the Secretary of the Central Committee of the party, Rania Svigou, for a permanent conference at the end of August and election of president on September 3 or 10.

At the same time, there is the proposal of Dionysis Tebonera, supported by Pavlos Polakis, that everything be moved after the municipal elections(October) stressing that there should be no fast track procedures and leaving it open for them to nominate, which, however, does not seem to pass because they are a minority among the 301 members of the KE.

The proposal of Nikos Pappas was also strongly heard for small displacement of the election of the president, possibly one or two weeks, in any case in September, which will be considered on Sunday. Many see it positively.

It was discussed, and will also be considered on Sunday, the possibility that Saturday is not the deadline for nominations, because the statute states that they are ratified in September. It is expected on Sunday that this will also be put to a vote. The proceedings of the KE are completed early on Sunday at noon.

It is noted that after her nominations Efis Ahtsioglou and his Euclid Tsakalotou for party leadership, submitted a candidacy also the Stefanos Tzoumakas and Nikos Pappas.

At the same time, it is expected that the elections for the Local Self-Government will be discussed and the Political Secretariat will be authorized for the further handling and the specific nominations for the regions and municipalities.
