The government and all the ministries involved have been on alert since the first moment when all the fire fronts with successive meetings and extraordinary measures to coordinate and deal with the state of emergency caused by the fires in the affected areas.

Coming to the Synod, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with his statements assured that the recording of the damages will be done immediately by the State, referring to the battles with the flames in Saronida, Loutraki and Dervenochoria.

Concluding, he said that “it was the first really difficult day of this summer. It is certain that more will follow. We have had fires, we have them and we will have them, this is also one of the results of the climate crisis which we are experiencing with increasing intensity. our bet is how we can limit them as quickly as possible, so that the damages we will suffer are as small as possible”.

The president of the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group, Sokratis Famelos, was also informed about the fires after a communication he had with the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilia. He was informed about all the fire fronts and the progress of the operations in them, while Mr. Famelos asked for a communication channel and emphasized his support for those who operate in the field, coordinate the extinguishing work and support the citizens.

In a post on social media, the president of PASOK, Nikos Androulakis, referred to the fires, noting that “Our thoughts are with the residents in southeastern Attica, in Loutraki and Dervenochoria, who are being tested and struggling to save their properties, as well as in firefighters and volunteers, who are fighting the fire fronts. At this moment, human life comes first and I hope that the fires will be controlled soon,” concluded Mr. Androulakis.
