Deposited within the day in Parliamentin the draft law “Strengthening the income of employees, young people, family and work – pension arrangements” amendment by which they return to the State the shares of EYDAP and EYATH held by the Superfund.

With the same amendment, among other things, the regime for listing the shares of Athens International Airport on the Stock Exchange is regulated, extended until August 31 the deadline for submitting income tax returns, a framework is established to support workers in fire-affected businesseswhich will be applied from this year also for those already affected by the July fires, and are exempt for three years from ENFIA the buildings classified as dangerous because of these fires.

In particular, with the provisions of the amendment of the Ministry of Finance:

  • It is planned to transfer to the State all the shares held by the Hellenic Holdings and Property Company (H.E.S.P.) in EYDAP and EYATH. This regulation is established in compliance with the relevant decision of the Plenary of the Council of State (190/2022) but also in implementation of the relevant pre-election commitments of the government. After the transfer, the rights of the shareholder are jointly exercised by the Ministries of Finance and Environment and Energy.
  • The corporate governance framework for the listing of Athens International Airport (El. Venizelos) shares on the Main Market of the Stock Exchange is being regulated. The purpose of the provision, among other things, is to strengthen the Greek capital market and attract investors. The provision also provides that after the introduction of the shares, the E.E.S.Y.P. will exercise full shareholder rights and appoint members of the company’s Board of Directors. It also sets out the process for the timely preparation of the award of the management of the airport after the expiry of the current contract (in 2046).
  • The deadline for submitting personal and corporate income tax returns for the year 2022 is extended until August 31, 2023. By the same date (August 31), the first two of the eight installments must be paid to pay the tax. The 3% discount still applies to those who pay the tax in one lump sum by 31 July. For companies that keep simple books, income tax is paid in six monthly installments starting from September.- The possibility of suspending, for a period of up to three months, the employment contracts of employees in companies affected by fires or other natural disasters, starting from the fires of July 17, is established. During this time, the employees will receive from the budget a compensation of 534 euros per month and will be provided with full insurance coverage. For the payment of the compensation, responsible declarations must be submitted by the companies to PS ERGANI and by the employees to the electronic platform supportemployees.services.gov.gr. Also, during the period of suspension, layoffs are not allowed and any terminations of employment contracts are void, while after the end of the suspension, businesses are required to maintain the same number of jobs for a period of time equal to that of the suspension.
  • Exempted for three years (2023, 2024 and 2025) from ENFIA are the buildings in the areas affected by the July fires, which are characterized as dangerous or unsuitable for use.
  • It is stipulated, in implementation of a relevant decision of the European Court, that the exemption of postal services from VAT will henceforth apply to the universal service. On the contrary, the exemption will not apply to the provision of services whose prices and terms have resulted from an individual negotiation or commercial agreement or a special offer in the context of tendering procedures or other types of assignments to the universal service provider.
