“Our country should invest in prevention to gain the resilience to face the side effects of climate change”
In the villages of the Municipality of Iasmos in Rodopi, which were affected by the devastating fires, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change was found on Thursday morning, Nikos Androulakis.
“The biblical disaster in Thrace, what is happening in Parnitha a few kilometers away from the center of Athens, and the fires throughout the country in recent days reveal the need for our country to invest in prevention in order to gain the resilience to face the side effects of climate change” pointed out Mr. Androulakis.
“For my part, I want to thank the firefighters, volunteers and residents who struggle every day to deal with these extreme phenomena. We must do more. There must be a national consensus. We must follow best European practices. We should obviously invest in the aerial means, but the key to dealing with fires in our country is proven again this year to be prevention,” the president of PASOK pointed out.
