The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis chaired yesterday a long meeting with the members of the Council of Ministers, at the presidential country house in Troodos, with the aim of determining the next actions to implement the governance program.

The meeting, which started at 9 am and ended at 11 pm, was attended by all members of the Council of Ministers, as well as the Commissioners for Gender Equality and the Environment.

In a written statement, the government representative Konstantinos Letympiotis mentions that during the meeting, the President of the Republic presented the goals that the Government sets for implementation in the immediate future, but also the major reforms that the Government will promote.

The aim of the meeting was coordination in view of the preparation of the 2024 state budget, the first that the current administration will submit, which will also give the stamp of the governance, but also in view of the start of the new parliamentary term.

A key axis of the Government Project is the implementation of all the milestones of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, as well as the preparation in view of taking over the Presidency of the EU in the first half of 2026.

All the members of the Council of Ministers and the Commissioners presented the Action Plans of their portfolios and there was a thorough discussion and global exchange of views on all issues. The Action Plans, as they have been formulated, will constitute a road map of each Ministry and will be presented publicly in the next period as part of the accountability of the Government.

The Government’s vision remains the further modernization of the state through the implementation of modern reforms and the implementation of policies that improve the daily life of citizens. A modern, digital state with a stable and strong economy, with simplified, direct processes that serve and facilitate citizens and create an attractive business environment to attract productive investments.

The governance program of the President of the Republic constitutes his great Social Contract with the citizens, a human-centered, modernizing and multidimensional governance model.
