Today he submitted to the prime minister his resignation from the position of Deputy Minister of National Defence, while referring to his tenure in the ministry among other things noted: “we have come full circle, a beautiful journey of almost two years. We did our best in all that was entrusted to us. I am very happy that we are leaving behind important legacies that also concern the issues of the defense industry and armaments”.

He underlined that “the officers of our Armed Forces tirelessly fight on every front throughout Greece – under difficult conditions – in the battles with the fires” and pointed out: “The battle is continuous and the steps that have been taken in recent years in Civil Protection they are excellent. Everyone has to admit that. Our priority is to defend human life, citizens’ property and the natural environment”.

Referring to the new struggle that is starting as the head of the “Attiki Brosta” combination, Nikos Hardalias emphasized the contact with the citizen to deal with the daily problems in each neighborhood. “Very important steps have been taken in the Attica Region in recent years. What is needed is to obtain a specific pace that concerns all 66 Municipalities of the Region. Each neighborhood has its own problems, its own priorities. We will fight in the field in constant contact with the world. When you listen to the citizen, you can categorize and prioritize their real needs and above all bring results,” he noted.

He stated that “we will cooperate with the Mayors and Municipal Authorities that will emerge in October. There will be a specific road map on our way, with schedules and priorities” and he emphasized:

“My path in Local Government has taught me that above colors and parties there are real problems. I’m not going to get caught up in petty partisan logic. My call is to all society. To all the people with whom we may have different ideological references, but we can join forces to bring results.”
