The Corriere della Sera newspaper refers to the meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni, which took place yesterday in Athens.

At the same time, he emphasizes that “after dinner, which lasted about two hours, Meloni returned to Rome, convinced that she had an important ally which, in some cases, can prove to be of decisive importance, for many cases that are of particular interest to Italian diplomacy”.

With reference, always, to the issues mentioned by the two leaders, the Milan newspaper writes that the investments of the Italian Hydrocarbons Company Eni off the coast of Cyprus were discussed, and the possibility that the Italian state-owned company, Leonardo, could supply four frigates in the Hellenic Navy.

Corriere della Sera, finally, with reference to the account of the Italian Prime Minister’s visit to Athens, underlines: “Before leaving for Rome, Meloni and her closest associates referred with emphasis to a series of bilaterals”folder” with particular strategic importance: the investments of the Italian company Italgas in the Greek natural gas distribution network but also, in general, the economic relations of the two countries, which aim to create a common axis in the eastern Mediterranean, against two other poles of influence, Egypt and Turkey. The Italian market is the first market for Greek exports and the third supplier of Greece. And not only. The collaboration is also developing thanks to the presence of many companies, such as Eni, Enel green power, Fincantieri, Snam, Terna and Italgas, which has ready an investment program of nine hundred million euros, between now and 2029, for the development of the entire distribution network ».
