The President of the Republic of Cyprus mentioned the benefits of bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and Israel, Nikos Christodoulidis and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in front of her tomorrow’s tripartite (Cyprus, Greece, Israel) after the welcoming ceremony of the latter at the Presidential Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The Cypriot President thanked the Israeli Prime Minister for the help provided by Israel in extinguishing the recent fires in Limassol, noting that “this is something we will never forget”.

Noting that this is the first visit of the Israeli Prime Minister to Cyprus five years now and the second meeting between the two leaders since he took office six months ago, President Christodoulidis said this was “a clear indication of the importance we attach to our relationship, the strategic cooperation of two like-minded Eastern Mediterranean republics ».

He noted that he looks forward to the discussions that will follow, stating that more deliverables need to emerge, especially in energy. “I was glad to hear your comments before your departure for Cyprus and I look forward to our discussions and, of course, tomorrow, with (Prime Minister of Greece) Kyriakos (Mitsotakis), in the tripartite meeting”, he said, noting that this will be the ninth tripartite meeting, since they started 8 years ago.

For his part, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, thanked President Christodoulides, saying that the friendship between Cyprus and Israel was not never stronger and getting stronger with time.

“Since we started this relationship, the Eastern Mediterranean tripartite alliance, we have so much to gain and expect so much more,” he noted, mentioning, indicatively, the sectors of tourism, investment, high-tech trade, security and others, while also referring to the tripartite meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, saying that there are great possibilities for cooperation.
