The processes in Koumoundourou four days before the polls open have caught fire, as they want everything to work around the clock. The deadly floods have pushed back the election process by a week, but are still causing problems for the party’s planning. No one can imagine that under the existing adverse conditions, polling stations will be able to be set up in most areas of Thessaly. Movement is impossible, apart from the fact that the last thing on the minds of the local residents at the moment is the internal party proceedings of SYRIZA.

From the first moment, what tormented the staff in Koumoundourou, as well as the candidates for the presidency, was participation. What “legitimacy” will the new leader have if only 30,000-40,000 members come to the polls? That is, approximately those who were registered in the registers at the 2016 congress. What they are looking for is how the party members will be able to vote in Thessaly without running the risk of questioning the process and its immutability. So we are looking for a platform that will provide a solution to this puzzle. The ‘equation’ is not simple, as even the obvious online solution will leave many excluded members ‘out of the ballot box’. R.Svigou, G.Vassiliadis and S.Famellos toured the flooded areas yesterday and saw the great difficulties faced by the three prefectures.

At the SYRIZA offices, the “strategy” on Sunday will be set up on the sixth floor, where in the meeting room they will receive and process the results from the 570 electoral divisions. There will be specially designed spaces for the five candidates who will leave their offices and decide to join the party. It is the will of the official opposition headquarters that the contenders for the presidency should all meet in Koumoundourou so that an image of unity emerges.

It is a fact that the election campaign of the five candidates is now dictated by the next day in Larissa, Karditsa and Volos. Their speeches have focused on natural disasters and “hard rock” against the Kyriakos Mitsotakis it has started. This, after all, is the point. Who can adequately face him from the position of the president and restore SYRIZA to a governing orbit with the horizon of the European elections. The “nails”, however, and the insinuations are not missing from the SYRIZA executives. The majority in the party believes that after the election of the president, the next very crucial stage, perhaps even more critical, will be the convening of the Congress at the end or beginning of the year. How will the next day be for SYRIZA? “In 2015 there was a split in SYRIZA and things moved forward” was the “use” of Olga Gerovasilis in “epirusonline”. Is the experienced party official seeing something or is he just exorcising the “demon” that everyone talks about in their private conversations. Christos Spirtzis, who resigned from the Political Secretariat, speaking to “One Voice”, pointing mainly to the side of the presidential candidates, argued that “the choices that were made showed that some had been preparing for a long time to replace Alexis in the presidency of SYRIZA and were in a hurry to take over”.
