“There is one person responsible for what is happening in Thessaly and that is Mr. Mitsotakis,” said the president of PASOK-Movement of Change, Nikos Androulakiswho accused the government of prioritizing the management of political costs and not dealing with the very important problems that exist in Karditsa, Trikala and Magnesia.

“There are tens of thousands of dead animals, their collection and burning is delayed, Thessaly is being led to turn into a health bomb and instead of practical initiatives to deal with the effects, what are we seeing? Let the prime minister go to Strasbourg and announce one package of 2.2 billion euros, which, however, most of them are not new money, but are money that the country is already entitled to from European programs that the government of Mr. Mitsotakis has not utilized,” said Mr. Androulakis and continued: “We see irresponsible ministers making a game of squash on the television networks between the responsibilities of their own and the governor of Thessaly. There must be an end to this farce. Everyone must take their responsibility and there must be a plan to deal with this painful reality experienced by the people of Thessaly.

It is the heart of the productive Greece. Hundreds of thousands of our fellow human beings are in despair. Everyone must take responsibility for this big problem that has arisen in the country.

At the moment we have a ball of blame between the ministers and the regional governor of Thessaly. I think it is wrong and despises the intelligence of the citizens and the problem itself.

One person is responsible for what is happening and that is Mr. Mitsotakis. He made this government that we see slowly taking off its sweater. He is responsible for the situation.”

Regarding the devastating fires in Evros, he accused the government of “failing to adapt the country to these new conditions like the previous government” and observed that climate change cannot be used as an alibi.

“We are ready to discuss a plan that will shake up the great natural lung, which is the forest of Dadia. One of the largest and most important avifauna in Europe. Always with a plan, with seriousness and with steps that the country rises and creates conditions of protection of the citizen and its natural wealth. And not with populisms, with characterizations, as we have seen a part of the opposition do, but above all Mr. Mitsotakis in the proposal of PASOK to upgrade both the forestry service and the fire brigade and the Policy plan Protection, after the disaster in the forest of Dadia.

The government’s latest actions and steps are the management of political costs and not a responsible response to the effects that exist in the wider region,” he pointed out.

Mr. Androulakis noted that in the speech he will make on Friday night at the 87th TIF, he will present a framework for dealing with all these important impacts in Thessaly and the Evros, always on the basis of responsible management.

The president of PASOK-KINAL made the above statements after the meeting he had with president of the Transport Project Organization Thessaloniki (OSETH) Yiannis Kalogeroudis and the managing director Yiannis Toskas.

“We had a comprehensive discussion about the OASTH and the Metro and the Flyover and our priority is for them to develop immediately, but always in a sustainable way where the citizens of Thessaloniki will have a better everyday life”, said Mr. Androulakis .

He emphasized that the metro project was delayed and the lack of means is a very big question mark and PASOK is proposing things that deal with Thessaloniki’s transport problem, without recycling it or avoiding the answer.

The managing director of OSETH, Yiannis Toskas, said that with regard to the flyover road axis, the effort is focused on mitigating any impacts that may occur in the first months of the construction of the project.
