“We owe it to the citizens to speak the language of truth”, stressed the Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos, speaking to SKAI about the bad weather and the motion of censure.
“We had a great bad weather, in which the state mechanism did not succeed. And we also had a private company, Attiki Odos, which failed to keep the road open, which is the most critical road for the Greek state. “Despite the company’s assurances, the road was closed in an anarchic way and this had very negative consequences,” he said.
As for the attitude of the opposition in this matter, he said: “Yesterday I did not see the speakers of SYRIZA and the opposition talking about the responsibilities of the company. “Is it party empathy or political naivete?”
For the citizens who suffered, he pointed out that it goes without saying that they should be compensated.
Regarding the ping-pong of responsibilities with the private company, the minister clarified that “if Attiki Odos said in the previous days that it can not keep the road open with the bad weather, it is certain that Mr. Stylianidis could make other decisions . On Monday alone, 73,000 vehicles and 6,500 heavy vehicles had passed. The responsibility is great. “
He added: “The truth is that the company that manages Attiki Odos assured until that morning that it can keep the road open. “No traffic police can close a road if the private company claims it can keep it open.”
Regarding the motion of censure, he said that it is obvious that the official opposition does not have to submit an alternative proposal. “He is in a very big internal party withering. “The main thing is that he risks losing the position of the official opposition in the next elections.”
In fact, he described Tsipras’ move as a motion of no confidence in the government as “unprofessional”. “The motion of censure against the government is a desperate attempt.”
