Ms. Ahtsioglou calls for an “honest and meaningful dialogue on our distinct political positions for our common goal, the overthrow of the right-wing government”
THE holding a debate in view of the second round of elections in SYRIZA has become the area of contention between the two candidates, Efis Ahtsioglou and Stefanos Kasselakis.
The member of parliament for the Western Athens Sector of SYRIZA stated this morning in her televised interview that has asked the secretaries of the party to hold a debate with Mr. Kasselakis.
“I asked the secretaries to ask Mr. Kasselakis and let’s see. I am absolutely open to when the debate should take place, after all, I asked for it,” said Mrs. Ahtsioglou, speaking on Tuesday morning to ANT1.
Mr. Kasselakis’ answer was negative and was given via Facebook:
“Debate with K. Mitsotakis. As Euclid Tsakalotos has aptly said: We are partners, not rivals.
With Efi the Modern Left he doesn’t want us opposite, but together. The “togetherness” demanded by 150,000 progressive citizens at the ballot box. I invite her on a joint tour.
Let’s go together in society.”
Mrs. Ahtsioglou, for her part, insisted and retorted: “Debate with Stefanos Kasselakis. Just because we’re mates. For an honest and meaningful dialogue on our distinct political positions for our common goal, the overthrow of the right-wing government.
Out of respect for our thousands of members who want to know our positions. As Nikos Pappas had aptly said: It would be a huge mistake not to speak, with camaraderie, in front of the democratic citizens. Debate is necessary to inform the world”.
