“We opened up all the issues that concern Greek society, events mediated which showed us the complete abandonment of the country by the Mitsotakis government and to which we must respond” said SYRIZA MP Alexis Haritsis, speaking on Wednesday morning to SKAI.

“Biblical disasters took place in Evros and Thessaly, areas we visited, which show the collapse of Mr. Mitsotakis’s staff state,” he said on the “Mismatched” show.

He then commented on the video posted on Facebook by Efi Ahtsioglou, who responds to the attacks by undermining Alexis Tsipras. “Efi Ahtsioglou made an attempt to politicize this process, which concerns the election of the new leader of the official opposition” commented Mr. Haritsis.

Regarding the SYRIZA voters who gave priority to Mr. Kasselakis, Mr. Haritsis said: “First of all, the fact that so many people came to the ballot box of an internal party process is a very strong message to society that SYRIZA is here, but also as for the government, that there will not only be a strong opposition, but also the prospect of governance. However, let’s not rush, because there is also the second round and the battle is open”.

Regarding his support for Ms. Ahtsioglou, Alexis Haritsis stated: “I have expressed my preference for Efi Ahtsioglou, because here we are not only choosing people we like, but people who have a political plan that will lead us in front. And Efi Ahtsioglou has shown with her journey in all the previous years that she has the experience and fighting spirit to be able to lead this great effort.”

“We will defeat Mr. Mitsotakis and his strong message of power only when we have a structured political plan of ideological politics and organizational reconstruction. This has been presented by Efi Ahtsioglou and it is a plan, which we will discuss. I would also expect Stefanos Kasselakis to present a similar plan. I haven’t seen it yet. That’s why Mrs. Ahtsioglou asked for a debate so that the positions of the two candidates can be heard.”

“The election of the president of SYRIZA does not concern SYRIZA or each of us personally, but the Greek people themselves.”
