The positive atmosphere of yesterday’s meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in New York and the commitment to continue the dialogue was confirmed by the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, during today’s briefing for political editors.

The two leaders agreed on the road map of contacts culminating in the Supreme Cooperation Council on December 7 in Thessaloniki, said Mr. Marinakis and added that Greece is today stronger than ever diplomatically and politically and is approaching the dialogue with Turkey in good faith.

Today at noon the prime minister will hold a meeting with investors and then he will speak at Yale. In the evening, Mr. Mitsotakis will deliver his speech at the UN General Assembly.

Regarding the labor bill being introduced today, Mr. Marinakis said that “the labor bill defends the rights of workers by correcting distortions of previous years. The priority is to ensure the employees”.

Asked if the prime minister will meet with the representatives of the National Observatory who disagree with the inclusion of civil protection, Mr. Marinakis replied that the government respects scientists and will proceed in this context.

There is no question of sovereign rights and the issues discussed are known, he answered a question about yesterday’s meeting between the prime minister and the Turkish president. As far as Cyprus is concerned, the prime minister clearly stated that the solution goes through the resolutions of the United Nations, he added.
