In the aftermath of the Mitsotakis – Erdogan meeting in New York, the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Dimitris Kairides. he explained all the aspects of the Immigration which, on the one hand, is exacerbated by the Turkish ultimatum for the removal of half a million Syrians from Istanbul, and on the other, Greece and Turkey are heading for a joint statement.

“We are talking about a Euro-Turkish agreement at the initiative of Greece”, emphasized the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, speaking to ERT.

“It is not possible for half a million Syrians to leave Turkey by tomorrow, but the announcement causes mobility and increased flows to Greece on the way to Germany” said Mr. Kairidis and recalled that in New York, Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met and with the competent European Commissioner Ylva Johansson, with whom Mr. Kairides will also meet on Thursday at the European Council.
