The Prime Minister’s adviser gave an interview to SKAI’s “Mismatched” – What he said about childbearing
On marriage equality, same-sex marriage and procreation the prime minister’s adviser spoke Alexis Patelisanswering a related question on the occasion of in the presence of its newly elected president SYRIZA, Stefanou Kasselakiswith his partner after the election process in official opposition party.
“What I found interesting, as you know I am also married abroad with my partner, what I found interesting was that the the topic of discussion for Mr. Kasselakis was not his sexual orientation but everything else. The fact that he wore short-sleeved shirts, if he ate breakfast, drank coffee, and we have a so-called new situation in which the official opposition leader is married abroad with a relationship that is not recognized by the Greek legal order”, initially emphasized Alexis Patelis to the “Mismatches” of SKAI and continued:
The relevant statements of Alexis Patelis were made from the 5th minute onwards in the video
“The Prime Minister said he believes in marriage equality and will bring this to Parliament. Obviously the timing is his decision, but I think society has shown us that it’s not their number one concern. I would say that it does not concern people at all. The number one issue is this punctuality and the supermarket. And that’s what we need to focus on. And the issue of marriage equality is an issue that will come.”
“Many LGBT people already have children. These children exist, we don’t know how many there are, but there are hundreds. These children do not have the same rights as other children. What I mean by that is your biological parent dies, you don’t go as a child to the non-biological because it is not recognized by the state, you will go to an institution. Your non-biological parent dies, you have no right to inherit because you have no legal destiny. Your parents are getting divorced. The non-biological parent has no obligation to help raise you. Even worse, there are Greek children abroad who have been born with a birth certificate that states father, father or mother, mother, which is not recognized by the census in our country and therefore these children, who are otherwise born by Greeks parents, cannot acquire Greek citizenship. These issues will exist, whether we like it or not, whether we see them or not, and they are multiplying. The number of these children is increasing and for the benefit of the children themselves, the state must move towards equality and the rights of these children. She is the basis of adoption mainly” said the prime minister’s adviser.
