“Many LGBT people already have children. These children exist, we don’t know how many there are, but there are hundreds. These children do not have the same rights as other children. What I mean by that is your biological parent dies, you don’t go as a child to the non-biological because it is not recognized by the state, you will go to an institution. Your non-biological parent dies, you have no right to inherit because you have no legal destiny. Your parents are getting divorced. The non-biological parent has no obligation to help raise you. Even worse, there are Greek children abroad who have been born with a birth certificate that states father, father or mother, mother, which is not recognized by the census in our country and therefore these children, who are otherwise born by Greeks parents, cannot acquire Greek citizenship. These issues will exist, whether we like it or not, whether we see them or not, and they are multiplying. The number of these children is increasing and for the benefit of the children themselves, the state must move towards equality and the rights of these children.
