“It is not as tragic as things are described in SYRIZA. There is tension and different opinions, but the situation has not gone out of bounds and I’m not afraid of the split issuebecause we all get along” said SYRIZA MP Vassilis Kokkalis speaking to SKAI.

However, he added that it is possible that some executives will leave.

“The issue,” he added, “is not what I want, it’s what the world wants. And the people showed that they are asking for three things: renewal, unity and solidarity towards the Mitsotakis government, and in this struggle no one can be absent.”

He emphasized that time credit should be given to Mr. Kasselakis and added: “If someone continues and raises an issue in the person of the leader, then it is his right to do what he has to do.”

In fact, he noted that “disagreements are expressed by historical officials and sometimes they may be justified, but up to a point, there is a limit. SYRIZA fits us all.”

Rapanakis: We found ourselves at the center of an orchestrated slanderous attack

The former director of Avgi, Spyros Rapanakis, also participates in the same discussion, who spoke about his resignation.

“There is no intrigue in my resignation, I was not forced to resign. As I said yesterday, I considered it my political and professional obligation to submit my resignation, because the management of Avgi, which is owned by SYRIZA, also has characteristics of a political executive. With the change of leadership by Mr. Kasselakis and therefore of ownership, I thought I should resign, I considered it self-evident to facilitate the new leadership.”

He added that neither he nor Avgi supported any of the candidates, “I was very careful” as he said.

However, he added: “Throughout the pre-election period, or rather from the moment Mr. Kasselakis was nominated, I and Avgi and the colleagues at Kokkino personally found ourselves at the center of an orchestrated slanderous attack and character assassination.”

“These attacks were also carried out by executives who supported Mr. Kasselakis and these behaviors were not condemned. They accused us of supporting Ahtsioglou until they would come to carry out liquidations”, said Mr. Rapanakis and added that since this was not condemned, he considered it appropriate to resign.

When asked by whom these attacks were carried out, he replied that “all this is public and known”.

As for how he judges Mr. Kasselakis, he said that he achieved an important victory, what he did is unique, it will be taught in communication schools.

He added that he credits him with how his own participation revived interest and brought people to the SYRIZA ballot box.
