The effects of climate change and the war in Ukraine were the main subject of the Prime Minister’s discussion with Jutta Urpilainen
Meeting with the Commissioner responsible for International Corporate Relations Jutta Urpilainen had on Thursday morning, at Megaros Maximos, the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
During the meeting, the effects of the war in Ukraine, the consequences of climate change, which our country experienced with unprecedented weather phenomena and disasters, as well as immigration, with an emphasis on its external dimension and in African countries, were discussed.
THE Prime Minister emphasized the need for Europe to do more to adapt to the climate crisis, both in terms of flexibility in financial instruments and in terms of resilience to climate change, while underlining the need to further strengthen the European Civil Protection Mechanism (rescEU).
Also discussed were the priorities of the “Global Gateway” strategy which aims to promote sustainable investment for infrastructure in priority areas such as digital transformation, climate and energy, transport, health, education and research, as well as “Team Europe” initiatives.
