The Turkish side made new provocative statements about Cyprus, this time through the mouth of the president of the Turkish parliament, Nouman Kurtoulmosas reported by the SKAI correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis.

Against all sense of logic, the Turkish politician stated that the invaders in Cyprus are not Turkey, but the Greek Cypriots, as the Greek Cypriot side, as he said, abolished the Republic of Cyprus.

“Indeed in Cyprus there is an invasion: But the invader in Cyprus is not Turkey, but the Greek Cypriot side that abolished the legal Republic of Cyprus, which was founded in 1960 and provided for the presence of the Turks and Greek Cypriots. Invaders are the Greek Cypriots who conquered the Republic of Cyprus”, emphasized Kourtoulmos and continued:

“Between 1963 and 1974, the existence of Turkish Cypriots. They had gotten to the point where they couldn’t survive on an island they were partners with. Turkey, as a guarantor country, could not monitor the efforts of the Union groups to abolish the Republic of Cyprus. And today the Turkish side is the one that accepts all international treaties. Turkey accepted the Annan plan. The Turkish side is the one that does not want the differences to continue.”
