The director of the prime minister’s press office spoke about recent developments in the official opposition and how they are reflected in the latest polls Dimitris Tsiodras in an interview he gave on the show “Mismatches” on the television station .

“We are trying to answer the problems, to answer the anxieties of the world and from there to consolidate the political sovereignty which was recorded in the elections”, Mr. Tsiodras emphasized and added that “as the prime minister said yesterday in his speech in the parliamentary group, the consolidation of the sovereignty of the New Democracy which is indeed recorded in these opinion polls, has to do with dealing with the problems of the citizens and certainly not with the confrontations with the opposition”.

Referring to the new leader of SYRIZA St. Kasselakis, Mr. Tsiodras noted that “a political leader, and especially the leader of the official opposition, is judged based on policies. Politics so far we have not seen, nor heard. And it’s not something that only government officials say. It is something that the officers of the official opposition themselves confess.”

He continued by stating that “it was also seen in the previous four years that the government is judged by how well it responds to the demands of the citizens and not by what the opposition says”, while adding that “the confrontation with SYRIZA and with Mr. Tsipras, in a very high tones, it did not seem to work in favor of SYRIZA in the final analysis when the citizen went to the ballot box”.

“The government – as recorded in the measurements and recorded in the election result – is confronted with the real problems and is judged by the extent to which it provides solutions,” he pointed out, while as he said: “For now, because it is too early for anyone to judge, we do not hear political proposals from the official opposition and we wait to see if, apart from image, there is also substance. At the moment, I don’t see anything like that.”
