The full commitment of the US to achieving a solution for the Cyprus issue that will be within the negotiation framework defined by the UN resolutions was underlined by Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken in the congratulatory message published by the State Department for the 63rd Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus.

The head of US diplomacy emphasized the fact that ties between Washington and Nicosia are stronger than ever, saying that he is inspired by the new possibilities that a possible reunification of the island could open up for the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.

Anthony Blinken’s Statement on the 63rd Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus.

“On behalf of the United States of America, I send my best wishes to the people of the Republic of Cyprus as you celebrate the 63rd anniversary of your nation’s independence.

The Republic of Cyprus and the United States are partners in the pursuit of a more peaceful and prosperous world and share a commitment to democracy, freedom and human dignity. The ties between our nations have never been stronger, and we look forward to further deepening the full range of our ties between governments and civil society. I am inspired by the possibilities that a reunified Cyprus could open up for all its people and the Eastern Mediterranean region. We remain fully committed to a Cyprus-led, UN-facilitated comprehensive settlement to reunify the island on the basis of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation, with political equality for all Cypriots.

The United States believes in the strength and resilience of the Cypriot people and will remain your steadfast partners. I express my warm greetings and best wishes for another year of continuous friendship and deepening of cooperation with the Republic of Cyprus”.
