The message of the Minister of Defense from Nicosia on the 63rd anniversary of the independence of Cyprus
For the Greece of Belharra, of the Rafale and Viper, Cyprus is not far away. This was emphasized by the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias from Nicosia and the military parade where he attended, as part of the events for the 63rd anniversary of its independence Republic of Cyprus.
“True independence is a continuous commitment to safeguarding the rights and aspirations of the nation, within the framework of the European acquis, democracy, human rights, respect for borders and the Treaties of International Law and the Law of the Sea” he underlined.
THE Cyprus and Greece “share this commitment”, pointed out Mr. Dendias and continued: “They share the commitment to the effort to reunify Megalonisos. Together we will continue to work for a brighter, more peaceful, more stable future for the entire region.”
“Committed and fellow travelers in this commitment with all the countries of the region inclusively” clarified Mr. Dendias and added: “With a top and basic condition: ‘That all the countries that are traveling with us are willing to co-sign the principles – the which I mentioned above”.
We honor the anniversary of the independence of Cyprus, he said and added: “We bring back to our memory the sacrifices of Cypriot Hellenism, the sacrifices that led to the independent European Republic of Cyprus.”
“Ensuring that Cyprus will remain a beacon of stability and prosperity in Eastern Mediterranean is our constant pursuit” clarified Mr. Dendias.
“Greece”, he added, “remains committed to supporting our Cypriot brothers in this great effort”.
He did not fail to emphasize “how proud” he felt to have attended the parade while congratulating its participants.
Among others, the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, the Cypriot Minister of Defense Michalis Giorgallas, the head of the Greek Armed Forces General Konstantinos Floros and the head of the European Defense Force Lieutenant General George Tsitsikostas attended the military parade.
