In the presence of its president PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakisthe candidate for the mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, held the main pre-election event of the “Athens NOW” combination tonight in Korai Square.

“Now is the time to fight for Athens. The arrogant, inefficient and inadequate municipal authority of Mr. Bakoyannis must be defeated,” said Mr. Doukas, among other things, and immediately afterwards he emphasized: “Athens cannot stand another five lost years. I am committed, based on my program, to a resilient city that will stand up to challenges. Where its neighborhoods will breathe and not drown in their problems. An Athens, green, safe, clean and creative for everyone. Athens, the moment is now”.

In other parts of his speech, he mentioned, among other things, that “In the Athens of 2023, people are holding on wherever they can so that the stream does not take them, in Vasilissis Sofias and in Evangelismos”, he emphasized that “the anti-flooding works must proceed, the study of 2019 which never happened, the mountain hydronomy and to make use of our abandoned hills”. And he added that “Athens is a very tough city for people who have great financial difficulties. The citizens of Athens pay some of the most expensive municipal fees. They pay more in Agios Panteleimonas, Sepolia and Rouf than in Glyfada and Vouliagmeni.

For his part, Mr. Androulakis said: “As a resident of Athens, I want a mayor close to us, next to us, every day. We don’t want a distant mayor, a princely mayor. In order for Athens to stop having a prince mayor, we must vote for a Duke, Haris Doukas.”

The event was also attended by MPs and officials of PASOK-KINAL, members of organizations, parties and bodies that support the “Athens NOW” Combination, as well as a large number of people.
