The statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in detail

“We are in Oman today for the Gulf Cooperation Council with the EU, a very important Summit from which we expect important conclusions to be drawn.

The Summit is taking place under extremely adverse conditions, as they are after the terrorist attack that was carried out from Gaza to Israel.

An attack, which is not only a violent interference in the sovereignty of a state, is also an absolutely abhorrent action, based on what we have seen, against the basic principles of humanity.

Greece stands by Israel, which has the right to defend itself against these inhuman acts. I would like to point out that in the context of the Summit with my counterparts from the Gulf countries, as well as my counterparts from the European Union, we will try to find those ways so as to stop the situation that is taking shape. In addition, I would like to emphasize that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy and the Consulate General, ensures that the Greeks who are in Israel return safely. Already yesterday 90 people returned and the rest who remain will return in the next period. The Greek State will stand by the people so that they can safely return home”.
