What the Prime Minister said in detail in the TikTok video:
“Accuracy. Very big problem. And I’m not making this video to tell you that we have all the solutions to the accuracy problem, but to share with you three measures that I think will help. Let’s see them together in a few seconds.
1. With an amendment by the Ministry of Development that has already been voted by parliament, all large supermarkets are now obliged to notify us of the increases made by their suppliers. Is the supplier raising? Do we see her on the supermarket shelf? We need to know it, so in the checks we do we will give priority to those who increase their prices.
2. All large supermarkets must upload their prices for fruits and vegetables to the e-Consumer platform daily. The e-katanalotis.gov.gr platform is an extremely useful tool that helps consumers compare prices and ultimately choose the lowest.
3. The sign with the number 5. What does this mean? Soon you will go to the supermarket and you will see a sign that says -5%, this means that the suppliers of these products have committed to keep the prices down by 5% for the next six months.
Yes I know accuracy especially in food is stubborn. But the government will always be here and will use all the tools at its disposal to limit the problem as much as possible.”
