“The government will cooperate with all local government agencies in order to implement the major changes that the citizens are asking for,” said the government representative.
The government will cooperate with all the elected officials of the regional and local self-governments, emphasized the government representative Pavlos Marinakis during his introduction to today’s briefing of the political editors.
Mr. Marinakis congratulated those who were elected and emphasized that 4 months ago we had double national elections where – as he said – society’s trust in ND and in the person of the prime minister was recorded. He also pointed out that the result in the first round revealed the political choices of the citizens, and added that the government takes the results of both the first and second rounds seriously. “The government will walk with its feet firmly planted on the ground. We will implement our program in cooperation with all agencies,” said Mr. Marinakis.
The government representative also said that the ministerial decision has been issued for the implementation of the reduced permanent price measure for basic products and emphasized that the goal is to deal with the inflationary crisis.
He added that so far a hundred companies have cooperated and the goal is to reach 500. The targeting of the decision is affordable prices, Mr. Marinakis emphasized. Referring to the payment of compensation to those affected by the bad weather in Thessaly, he said that it continued and the last one was given on October 13, while a total of 65 million euros have been given to 14 thousand citizens.
The government spokesman also said that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is today in Tirana where he will take part in the Summit of the Berlin Process and sent a clear message to Albania, saying that the Prime Minister supports the European perspective of the Western Balkans, but a basic condition for This means that each country embraces European values and respects international law. Finally, he said that the new framework for the selection of administrations of public bodies was given for consultation, which will be completed on October 24 and the aim is to upgrade the efficiency of public services, strengthen meritocracy and evaluation through target setting, while it concerns 600 people in public bodies.
In detail during his introduction, government representative Pavlos Marinakis stated the following:
The second round of the self-governing elections was completed yesterday. I, in turn, want to congratulate all the new Regional Governors and the new Mayors who were elected. The Government will cooperate with all local government bodies in order to implement the major changes requested by the citizensto implement the major infrastructure projects and development plans of each region with an emphasis on the particular needs and requirements of each place.
As last week, I will emphasize again that we are not celebrating, we are not triumphant, but neither are we zeroing in.
For the political message of last night’s resultswhich they were very quick to reap, I will repeat what the Prime Minister emphasized in his statement.
Four months ago we had national elections in which the dynamics of the political parties and the confidence of the citizens in the Government and the Prime Minister were clearly recorded, not once, but twice.
The political balances were reflected again in the first round of self-governing elections with the participation of all factions.
We take into account the citizens’ messages and the overall result of the self-governing elections as it emerged from both the first and second rounds.
We continue with all our strength with the aim of improving the everyday life of Greek citizens. In this effort, the Local Government is a strong ally, which we have practically supported and will continue to support in the new self-governing period.
The Government must walk with its feet well grounded, on the earth. Our concern is to continue the implementation of the reform agenda and implement our program in cooperation with all agencies.
That is why this Government was re-elected four months ago, this is its mission and this is what it will do.
The ministerial decision was issued for the implementation of the “Permanent Price Reduction” measure which began to take effect gradually in supermarkets. Consumers will be able to spot on the shelves the special markings on products that suppliers have reduced in price.
The reduction is by at least 5% and for at least 6 months, with the aim of supporting consumers against the consequences of the global inflationary crisis. Already, 100 product codes from well-known companies have been included in the measure, and the goal is to progressively reach 500.
As the Minister of Development Mr. Kostas Skrekas has emphasized: “our goal is to stimulate competition and achieve affordable prices for households, who need it so much.”
Compensation payments continue to those affected by the flooding that hit Thessaly, Evia and Fthiotida. On Friday, October 13, the 8th first aid payment in a row took place.
Within a week, 17.8 million euros were paid to approximately 4,900 beneficiaries. In total, within a month or so, 65 million euros have been credited to 14,000 citizens.
The Government, in cooperation with the competent authorities, is rapidly continuing the awarding of compensations, the autopsies in the field and the finalization of pending applications, in order to proceed as quickly as possible with the restoration of damages to property and infrastructure.
The Ministry of the Interior’s Bill for the new framework for selecting administrations of public bodies and strengthening their effectiveness was put into public consultation. The consultation will end on 24 October.
The bill concerns more than 600 positions of Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Governors, Deputy Governors, Deputy Governors, Directors and Authorized Advisors in Public Sector bodies. The objectives of the bill are the upgrading of the requirements of each position, the strengthening of meritocracy and transparency, the evaluation of administrations through a specific target setting system and finally the maximum efficiency of the administration system.
As you already know, the Prime Minister today went to Tirana, where he is participating in the Summit of the Berlin Process.
Greece supports and has always supported the European perspective of the Western Balkans, which was demonstrated by the meeting in Athens at the end of August of the leaders of these countries on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the European Union – Western Balkans Summit and the “Declaration of Thessaloniki” ».
The basic condition is of course that each country embraces and respects the basic European principles and values. Respect for the rules of the Rule of Law is non-negotiable and this concerns all candidate countries for membership.
The Summit will focus on issues of economic convergence of the Western Balkans with the European Union and their integration into the Single Market, good neighborly relations, bilateral issues, as well as issues of supporting the green and digital transition in the Western Balkans.
