MEP Stelios Kouloglou spoke to SKAI 100.3 about the situation in SYRIZA and its decision to become independent.

In question by Pavlos Tsimas if he intends to hand over the seat as requested by Koumoundourou, Mr. Kouloglou replied that “I was elected with another party. This current party, the positions of the president have nothing to do with the positions of SYRIZA”.

In fact, he added that the positions of Mr. Kasselakis have more to do with positions “of the right wing of the democratic party”while he also talked about “authoritarian views”.

Mr. Kouloglu added that essentially there is no official opposition and that Mr. Mitsotakis “does what he wants” in the absence of opposition, giving as an example the way of electing MEPs. As he said “he can decide until the last moment what is in his best interest” .

The MEP added that they deal with SYRIZA “the gossip shows”while at another point he mentioned that the situation is “like watching a series on Netflix, I had no desire to take part in such a thing.”

“The toxic climate plus the positions of Stefanos Kasselakis made me leave. I don’t rule out being a candidate again, but I’m waiting to see how things will develop,” he said and added that the world of the Left needs a modern democratic green Left party for the modernization and development of the country.

He added that this will be expressed at some point, and if it is expressed before the European elections, “I will also contribute”.

Mr. Kouloglu added that Mr. Kasselakis is not responsible for the crisis and the big defeats of SYRIZA, his election is a result of these bad resultshe said.

In fact, he said that he himself had pointed out the problems and how he was almost deleted when he said the phrase “president, we don’t like you.”

Finally, he said that himself could do it “good boy and be on the list and be re-elected”but added “I don’t care about position unless I can do things for what I believe in.”

In closing, Mr. Kouloglu predicted that “certainly conditions will be created to overthrow Stefanos Kasselakis”.
