“Everything that is said is pretentious, even if Kasselakis wanted to transform the party, we wouldn’t be able to do it in a month. So they waited for the second round of self-governing elections, to start a war of attrition, which is not a war against Kasselakis, it is a war against SYRIZA,” said G. Tsipras.
Speaking to SKAI, the director of the SYRIZA Committee, Giorgos Tsipras, commented on the latest developments in SYRGIA.
When asked if the party is going to split, he replied that “they say it clearly, the name of the party has also been announced”.
Mr. Tsipras underlined: “What is happening to SYRIZA now has never happened before. This is not a disagreement, disagreements are respected. There is non-acceptance of the Kasselakis election just a month after the election, in which 150,000 people voted. Everything that is said is pretentious, even if Kasselakis wanted to transform the party, we wouldn’t be able to do it in a month. So they waited for the second round of self-governing elections, to start a war of attrition that is not a war on Kasselakis, it is a war on SYRIZA”.
He added that “it is obvious that there is a plan to destroy SYRIZA by those executives who come out and make some statements”.
“I am in no way bashing those who supported other candidates in the internal party elections,” he said.
In response to a question whether these executives include Mr. Vitsas, Skourletis and Philis answered: “Aren’t they among those who make unacceptable statements?”
Asked about him Euclid Tsakalotos he replied that “criticisms are welcome and especially when they are not made publicly”.
“Some statements that are made daily on the channels are a war on SYRIZA. There is a feeling of ownership of the party, it existed in the past, but now it is expressed in a way that leaves only a lot of room for friendly discussion,” he said.
And he continued: “Here there is an unprecedented state of war in SYRIZA. They want to build another party, and because they want to build another party, SYRIZA and Kasselakis must suffer the maximum possible damage. This is what is happening today.”
“It’s a depressing situation, I personally don’t like it at all, we have to overcome it and we will overcome it” he commented.
When asked if it is better for these executives to leave SYRIZA, Mr. Tsipras said: “There was the entire democratic space, anyone who had a different opinion that these opinions should be included either in the Central Committee or in the congress. There is a decision made to damage SYRIZA, it’s that simple, because they want to build another party. They want to go out and do as much damage as possible.”
“Whatever Kasselakis is, the other does not have time to find such examples that he says cannot exist” he repeated.
When asked what will happen if the Kasselakis recommendation for deletion is not passed, he answered: “It doesn’t mean many things. It is essential that the KE approves the road map to the conference, that we go out into society.”
When asked if he should stand, Alexis Tsipras replied: “He should not, he kept a neutral stance, it is his matter, he has an opinion, whether he will stand is his matter.”
And he concluded: “Whoever wants to build a party, must leave, what to do? Should he come to the conference and tell us the name of the party? The way they are building a party is unacceptable, they are destroying SYRIZA.”
