The clouds that have thickened over Koumoundourou thinned a little yesterday afternoon with the visit of Euclid Tsakalotos to Stefanos Kasselakis and the subsequent meeting of the Executive Office.

The atmosphere in the four-four was good with the former finance minister conveying the message that with the threat of deletions there can be no political discussion.

Stefanos Kasselakis pledged to do whatever it takes to ensure unity, however “white smoke” did not come out. The situation is too difficult and the balance too delicate for the new president to take back the “fist moves” he made in the last week.

It is a fact that the conversations that have been said between the two “camps” are very serious.

Is this a change of course for Stefanos Kasselakis? It is certainly a gesture of good will. A few days before the Central Committee, all the “players” in Koumoundourou examine their movements very carefully.

The leader of the official opposition has made it a priority to do a total “facelift” in the image of the party. And for this reason he announced that “I propose that a decision be issued today by the Executive Office, for the our coordinated presence in the media. To have a single voice out. The Press Office will determine the procedures.”

In practice it is difficult to implement list for the executives who will deliver the public speech and reactions are certainly expected. However, it shows the will of the new president not to continue this situation.

THE Efi Ahtsioglou referred during the meeting of the Executive Office to the deletions saying that only the announcement of the referral of the four executives to the Ethics Committee shows the crisis that exists in the party.

“We cannot hide the magnitude of the problem under the carpet,” he said. “How are we going to walk to the conference when there are pre-registrations and cancellations?” She repeated her request to convene the Political Secretariat without receiving any response.

Stefanos Kasselakis emphasized, among other things, that “what I ask of everyone is not to question the honesty of the party and the executives of SYRIZA. Not mine, not anyone else’s. The leftist morality that we must honor with our overall image. And I make an appeal to everyone. Let’s show restraint. Lower the tone. To show camaraderie, to focus on the real problems of society.”

No one knows how things will develop in SYRIZA. The polls are not helping and many claim that it is accelerating the processes of disintegration. “Umbrella” is said to be determined to continue the lonely road and to constantly cast “nets” towards Efi Ahtsioglou’s team for companionship.

Every meeting is a challenge for the new leadership. The Central Committee is certainly the “mother of battles”, but it is traditionally preceded by a Political Secretariat to prepare it. The suggestions that already exist to cancel the deletions may lead to a postponement or delay of the procedures. It is a fact, after all, that in the KE, which will unexpectedly take place on November 11-12, there will be a loser and a winner. And maybe there everything will be clarified without having to run the disciplinary procedures.

In this climate, the Alternative Social Left Network, in which, among others, Dionysis Teboneras and Diana Voutirakou participate, is a new “current of ideas” that will contribute with its interventions to the pre-congress dialogue. “Neither split nor conflict”, the 27 executives clarify, who say “yes” to the relegation and “no” to the liquidation.
