The President of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, Stefanos Kasselakis, visited the facilities of the National Center for Immediate Assistance in eastern Thessaloniki.

Mr. Kasselakis had a short discussion with EKAV employee representatives. The workers spoke to him about their wages and working conditions, with the president of SYRIZA replying that “it is inhumane, unimaginable and immoral”.

“We have a moral responsibility as a society to reward you for what you provide. Which is life. I apologize for this situation prevailing at EKAB, but we will change it. – It is unimaginable, immoral, inhumane what is happening and we will change it” emphasized Mr. Kasselakis.

EKAB workers gave Stefanos Kasselakis a tour of a mobile unit and explained to him how it works. They noted that it comes at a difficult time for hospitals and health as a whole in our country. Stefanos Kasselakis stated that he will stand by their side both in terms of moral support and financial support since their salaries are very low.

“You are the best of society and we as a state and as a society must recognize you” underlined the president of SYRIZA. In fact, he said he knows most of what he was told, since his husband, Tyler Macbeth, was also a lifeguard.
