Six arrests in Thessaloniki of people planning to go down to Athens to participate in the rally
“We are ready to handle any situation. We have been watching a movement for some time. The failure of the summer is not going to be repeated,” Citizen Protection Minister Yiannis Oikonomou stressed to SKAI.
The occasion is the gatherings planned for 6 pm in Neo Heraklion, Attica, to mark 10 years since the murder of Manolis Kapelonis and Giorgos Fountoulis, guards at the Golden Dawn offices.
A similar gathering is also planned in Patras.
¨As Mr. Economou said – apart from the arrest of 21 Italian far-rights last night at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport who traveled to our country responding to the call for today’s gathering – corresponding arrests were also made in Thessalonikiof Greeks who were planning to go down to Athens to participate in the gathering.
He pointed out at the same time that since the fall the police have noticed mobility in the areas of the anti-authoritarians which is triggered by the developments in the Middle East and by various processes in progress in Athens such as the construction of the METRO in Exarchia.
He also announced that in the last month the police have made 1,300 arrests related to her Juvenile delinquency.
He added that checks are carried out in places where the youth gather and patrols are carried out on a daily basis in Kifissia and throughout the axis in the northern suburbs where incidents of violence are recorded.
Asked about it, he said that the police have evacuated the row occupations. He added that the government will not compromise and will not tolerate lawlessness but the police operate within the framework defined by the Constitution and the counties.
