Following the actions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and under the coordination of the Embassy of Greece in Cairo and the Consulate General of Jerusalem, twelve Greek citizens, who resided in Gaza, passed safely through the Rafah border crossing today and are now in Egypt.

The border crossing between Gaza and Egypt was opened again today, for a second day, to citizens with dual citizenship, and many of them were visibly relieved that the ordeal was over.

The crossing was opened on Wednesday for the first time since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out to allow foreign passport holders to leave the Palestinian enclave that is being bombed by Israel.

An Egyptian official in Rafah, the only one not controlled by Israel, said “400 foreign passport holders are expected to cross today, as well as 60 wounded,” noting that those numbers could change.

The head of the administration on the Palestinian side of the crossing, Hisham Adwan, also said that 400 foreigners and dual nationals are expected to cross the border crossing today, as well as about 100 wounded.

Yesterday 76 Palestinians in ambulances and over 300 foreigners and dual nationals were evacuated through the Rafah crossing for the first time since the war began.
